Jessica Simpson Files For Divorce
Pop star Jessica Simpson has officially filed for divorce from her husband Nick Lachey - citing "irreconcilable differences" in their three-year marriage.
The Dukes Of Hazzard beauty applied not to pay alimony to her Newlyweds co-star in a Los Angeles court on Friday on Dec. 16 - despite refusing to sign a pre-nuptial agreement before walking down the aisle.
When the celebrity couple married in 2002 Lachey was richer than Jessica as a singer in US boyband 98 Degrees.
But the 25-year-old beauty has since shot to stardom with a flourishing pop and movie career - and is now worth an estimated $54 million (30 million pounds).
If Simpson's alimony case is rejected, she will be required to pay Lachey half of her lucrative earnings, as under Californian law any money made during marriage is equally split if there is no pre-nuptial agreement.
